Emergency Contraception (Morning-After Pill)

For Emergency Contraception

The morning-after pill, prescribed and dispensed the same day.

In brief…

Emergency contraception lowers the chance of pregnancy after unprotected sex or contraceptive failure. Two options: levonorgestrel works up to 72 hours afterwards, and ulipristal acetate (ellaOne) works up to 120 hours and is more effective in the later window and around ovulation. The sooner you take it, the better it works.
