Dexamfetamine (Amfexa) is the immediate-release form of the active amphetamine in Elvanse. It lasts 4–6 hours and needs to be taken 2–3 times daily. It’s used when lisdexamfetamine’s 12–14 hour duration is too long (interfering with sleep or appetite), when flexible timing is needed, or as a top-up alongside lisdexamfetamine for early-morning or late-evening coverage.

Age restriction

Methylphenidate/lisdexamfetamine: children 6 and over, and adults. Atomoxetine: children 6 and over, and adults. Guanfacine: children 6–17 (MR formulation). All must be initiated by a specialist in ADHD.

Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place. Keep out of reach and sight of children. Do not use after the expiry date.
