Lisdexamfetamine (Elvanse) is a long-acting amphetamine-based stimulant and is one of two first-line options for adults with ADHD (alongside methylphenidate). It’s a prodrug – inactive until it’s metabolised in the body, which gives it a smooth onset, consistent 12–14 hour duration, and very low abuse potential compared to other amphetamines. For many adults, Elvanse is the medication that finally works after methylphenidate hasn’t delivered enough.

Age restriction

Methylphenidate/lisdexamfetamine: children 6 and over, and adults. Atomoxetine: children 6 and over, and adults. Guanfacine: children 6–17 (MR formulation). All must be initiated by a specialist in ADHD.

Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place. Keep out of reach and sight of children. Do not use after the expiry date.
