Blocks angiotensin II receptors, keeping blood vessels relaxed and reducing the strain on your heart. Taken once or twice daily.

Adults with hypertension, heart failure, or recovering from a heart attack. Not suitable in pregnancy, severe liver disease, or biliary obstruction.

Common: dizziness, headache, fatigue, hyperkalaemia (high potassium). Uncommon: gastrointestinal disturbances, muscle cramps, rash. Rare: impaired liver function.

Do not use in pregnancy (especially 2nd and 3rd trimester). Avoid in severe hepatic impairment or biliary obstruction. Do not use with aliskiren in patients with diabetes or moderate-to-severe renal impairment.

Risk of high potassium with potassium-sparing diuretics or supplements. NSAIDs may reduce effectiveness and increase renal risk. Lithium levels may increase.

Contraindicated in pregnancy - can cause serious harm to the developing baby including kidney damage and low blood pressure. Stop immediately if pregnancy confirmed. Avoid during breastfeeding.

Take once or twice daily as directed. Can cause dizziness and low blood pressure, especially at first. Blood tests required to monitor kidney function and potassium.
