Prasterone (brand Intrarosa) is a vaginal pessary containing DHEA, which the body converts locally into small amounts of oestrogen and testosterone right where they are needed. It treats the dryness, soreness and discomfort of the genitourinary syndrome of menopause, and is an option when standard vaginal oestrogen has not been enough.
