Vaginal thrush (candidiasis) in women who have had it diagnosed before and recognise the symptoms.

Clotrimazole damages the membrane of the yeast that causes thrush, so it stops growing and dies.

Women aged 16 to 60 with recognised thrush symptoms. See a doctor first if this is your first episode, you have had more than two episodes in six months, or you have unusual symptoms.

See a doctor rather than using this if you have abnormal bleeding, lower abdominal pain, a smelly or coloured discharge, sores or blisters, fever, or if you are under 16 or over 60.

Tell us if you take tacrolimus or sirolimus. It can weaken latex contraceptives.

If you are pregnant, a pessary can be used but insert it by hand rather than with the applicator, and speak to us first. Tell us if you are pregnant.

Insert one pessary high into the vagina at bedtime, using the applicator. Symptoms usually ease within 3 days. If they have not gone after 7 days, contact us. You can use it during your period but it may be less comfortable. It can damage latex condoms and diaphragms for up to 5 days.
