Adults and children with inflammatory or immune-mediated conditions. Almost anyone can take a short course. Long-term use requires careful monitoring for side effects. Use with caution in diabetes, osteoporosis, peptic ulcers, and mental health conditions.

Take in the morning with food. Short courses (5--7 days) are generally safe. Long-term use can cause weight gain, high blood sugar, osteoporosis, skin thinning, mood changes and immune suppression. Never stop suddenly after taking for more than 3 weeks -- you must taper gradually. Carry a steroid card if on long-term treatment.
